Job Overview

Dewberry's Peoria, IL office is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and oversight for our design resources in all areas of mechanical engineering. This includes assisting the Mechanical Discipline Managers within a Business Unit/Office by providing operational and technical guidance to help meet client desires and budget.



The successful candidate will work with a team of engineers on a variety of private, public, and federal projects. In addition to working with mechanical engineers, this individual will team with electrical, plumbing/fire protection, civil, structural, and other disciplines to provide full-range services to our local, regional, and national clients.



Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving mechanical engineering.
  • Develop and deliver technical training and development programs for staff.
  • Assist in establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for mechanical discipline areas.
  • Act as Engineer of Record for projects.
  • Provide on-the-spot advice and decisions – technical and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
  • Interface with code officials and contractors.

Requirements
  • Accomplished professional engineer (PE) with existing licensure in IL preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards to the client on time and within budget.
  • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-organized with good note-taking skills.
