About the Role

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a highly skilled Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a pivotal member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in implementing and overseeing safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both staff and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Systems: Design and document comprehensive safety systems covering incident reporting, environment of care monitoring, infection control practices, and emergency preparedness/response.
  • Foster a Culture of Safety: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate relevant processes in collaboration with leadership to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Provide Safety and Risk Management Expertise: Offer input on safety and risk management policies and procedures, ensuring their review and maintenance.
  • Develop and Execute Safety Work Plans: Create and implement safety work plans and reporting calendars, leading safety-related committees and producing critical reports.
  • Ensure Compliance with External Standards: Ensure compliance with external safety and risk management standards and regulations, serving as an internal subject matter expert and consultant.
  • Conduct Facility Reviews and Accreditation Visits: Conduct on-site facility reviews, participate in accreditation visits, and maintain required licenses and certifications.
  • Oversee Compliance with CLIA Waived Testing Requirements: Ensure compliance with CLIA waived testing requirements and serve as Chestnut's food sanitation manager.
  • Act as a Liaison with Community Partners: Serve as a liaison with community partners on safety and emergency preparedness matters.
  • Supervise Quality Improvement Clerks: Hire, train, and supervise Quality Improvement Clerks, providing regular briefings to supervisors on pertinent safety issues.
  • Promote Recovery Values and Customer Service Excellence: Promote the organization's recovery values and culture of customer service excellence while maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements

Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in healthcare, environmental safety, or a related field. Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with three years of experience in a healthcare setting will be considered. Certification from ServeSafe as a Food Protection Manager is required within nine months of hire. Strong knowledge of safety best practices, familiarity with relevant regulations, excellent computer skills, and effective communication abilities are essential. A valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and insurability are also required, along with the ability to travel between regions and agency locations.
