Position Overview
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for the verification, dispensing, and monitoring of medication therapy, as well as providing drug information both on-site at Gateway Regional Medical Center and remotely for various off-site hospital facilities.
Additional responsibilities include supervising and directing support staff, monitoring adverse events, engaging in medication use performance improvement initiatives, and serving as a resource for pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
Remote order entry pharmacists may be required to act as the Pharmacist in Charge for out-of-state pharmacist licenses and must maintain licensure in multiple states concurrently, in accordance with remote facility locations and state pharmacy regulations.
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from a School or College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is required.
Licensure:
A current pharmacist license from the state of Illinois is necessary, with a New Mexico license required within a specified timeframe after hiring.
Work Schedule:
This position operates on a 7 on/7 off overnight shift.
Experience:
Health-system pharmacy experience is preferred but not mandatory.
