Position Overview

Role Summary

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in-office)

Medline Industries is seeking a skilled Senior Automation Engineer to become a vital part of our Platform Engineering and Operations division. This role is pivotal in architecting, developing, and sustaining a robust, scalable, and secure Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) framework to facilitate our cloud transition and software enhancement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of expertise in software engineering, infrastructure oversight, and a comprehensive grasp of cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a scalable and secure Infrastructure Automation Platform to support cloud migration and software modernization efforts.
  • Deliver CI/CD solutions that cater to the needs of customers, products, developers, and operations throughout the product lifecycle, enhancing the speed of code and application releases.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture within the team, continuously gathering and analyzing feedback to address platform-related challenges.
  • Develop and maintain automated systems for building, deploying, and monitoring to ensure platform reliability.
  • Diagnose platform issues and collaborate with engineering and operations teams for resolution.
  • Work alongside Enterprise Architecture and Software Engineering teams to enhance developer experience through self-service platform capabilities.
  • Coordinate with IT Operations to ensure effective management and monitoring of cloud infrastructure.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance teams to integrate automated testing into deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Security teams to ensure adherence to standards and protection against cybersecurity threats.
  • Engage in ITIL-based change, incident, and problem management processes for automation solutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including platform requirements and operational procedures.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members in their professional development.
  • Manage platform expenses and budget in collaboration with the IT Finance Division.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in a technology role focused on infrastructure, cloud operations, or software engineering.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in administering GitLab and Terraform.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a strong interest in design thinking.
  • Solid understanding of the product development lifecycle and the interplay between product, development, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
  • Experience in developing cloud-based solutions with leading service providers.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies.
  • Proficient in RESTful APIs and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure and Application Performance Monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Packer, and Ansible.
