Position Summary

The Senior Sourcing Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing the technical, sourcing, and performance aspects of our supply chain. This position is responsible for crafting strategies for commodity development and supplier management, aimed at achieving significant long-term material cost reductions and enhancing supply chain risk management. The role will oversee an annual global expenditure of $30 million and will serve as the primary liaison between the GTU and its suppliers. This position is based in Libertyville and reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement global strategies focusing on risk management for '80' parts, ensuring alignment across all GTU locations and the ITW Enterprise.
  • Lead the GTU sourcing team to identify cost-saving opportunities through market benchmarking, supplier diversification, and Value Engineering initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain a robust supplier management program, including the creation of strong contracts, performance metrics, savings objectives, and effective risk management practices.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the technical functionalities of product components, preferably in areas such as electronics, casting, machining, plastic injection, and extrusion.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submissions of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documents by suppliers.
  • Develop and implement formal risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the revenue stream for the Global Tool Unit.
  • Stay informed on market trends and indexes, analyze supplier cost structures, and conduct competitive market analyses to minimize cost impacts and mitigate risks.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in plastics, resin, or electronics supply chains within manufacturing or product development environments.
  • Experience exceeding 5 years in sheet metal fabrication, casting, and metals.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading and managing cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a proven ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong understanding of demand management and replenishment principles, with the ability to execute these effectively.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Ability to analyze product costs and comprehend the underlying cost drivers.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to listen and interpret nuanced information.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and offshore as required, with the potential for up to 20% travel.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of multiple commodities, including electronics, casting, machining, and plastic injection, is preferred.
