Role Summary

Medline Industries is seeking a skilled Senior Automation Engineer to enhance our Platform Engineering and Operations team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in architecting, developing, and sustaining a robust, scalable, and secure Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) framework that aligns with our cloud transformation and operational goals. The ideal applicant will possess over 5 years of expertise in software engineering, infrastructure oversight, and a comprehensive grasp of cloud technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and implement a scalable, secure Infrastructure Automation Platform to facilitate cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
  • Deliver CI/CD solutions that cater to the needs of customers, products, developers, and operations throughout the product lifecycle, enhancing the speed of code and application deployments.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture within the team by actively gathering and analyzing feedback to address platform-related challenges.
  • Develop and maintain automated systems for building, deploying, and monitoring to ensure platform reliability.
  • Diagnose platform issues and collaborate with engineering and operations teams for resolution.
  • Work alongside Enterprise Architecture and Software Engineering teams to provide self-service capabilities that enhance the developer experience.
  • Coordinate with IT Operations to manage and monitor cloud infrastructure, ensuring stability and fault tolerance.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance teams to integrate automated testing within deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Security teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Engage in ITIL-based processes for change, incident, and problem management related to automation solutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including platform specifications and operational guidelines.
  • Support the growth and development of junior team members through mentoring.
  • Manage platform expenses and budget in collaboration with the IT Finance Division.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
  • 5+ years in a technology role focused on infrastructure, cloud operations, or software engineering.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in administering GitLab.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a strong interest in design thinking to understand and meet customer needs.
  • Solid understanding of the product development lifecycle and the interplay between product, development, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
  • Expertise in developing cloud-based solutions with leading cloud service providers.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools for infrastructure and applications.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Packer, and Ansible.
