Electromechanical Systems Engineer

Gromelski and Associates, Inc. (GAI) collaborates with leading contractors to deliver expert services. Our primary service areas encompass Engineering Design and Documentation, Software Development and Testing, System Integration, Testing and Evaluation, Lab Management, Field Installation, Integrated Logistics Support, Training Development and Delivery, Multimedia Support, and Technical System Support.

Electromechanical Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

Research, strategize, design, and develop mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems intended for testing and production. Conduct analyses and evaluations on intricate designs to satisfy diverse requirements and conditions. Success in this role necessitates a proactive, confident demeanor and a dedication to teamwork to adhere to critical delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Engineering activities
  • Seek an Electromechanical Systems Engineer with expertise in Electronic Warfare or Electronic Attack subsystems and systems.
  • Possess knowledge of Naval clientele, Naval design limitations, and integration with naval vessels.
  • Experience in system installations on naval vessels, engaging with various Naval yards, and liaising with Navy personnel.
  • Support the current Engineering team in constructing, integrating, testing, and assessing production-representative systems in the LM Syracuse laboratory.
  • Collaborate with other departments (SE, FW, SW, Lab Support, etc.) to integrate components into the comprehensive system.
  • Complete designs, design reviews, and documentation reviews to support new configuration modifications and developments.
  • Investigate and resolve problem reports, change notices, and configuration updates in line with the BLQ-10 Hardware Development Plan and Configuration Management Plan.
  • Prepare and deliver status updates for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with program timelines.
  • Support travel for reviewing integration, installation, and testing of systems on naval vessels or at environmental testing facilities, which may include ship checks and system installations for various demonstration activities.
  • Review and analyze issues related to obsolescence, Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP), and supply chain challenges affecting current and future BLQ-10 production, spare parts, and logistics.

Design and develop mechanical and/or electromechanical products.

Conduct stress, structural/dynamic, and thermal design testing and analysis concerning the packaging of electronic/COTS equipment across multiple military platforms.

Assist in the preparation, planning, setup, and execution of Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) including shock and vibration, temperature, humidity, and altitude testing.

Support the preparation, planning, setup, and execution of Engineering Development Model (EDM) builds, qualifications, and production.

Electromechanical Systems Engineer Qualifications:

  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling.
  • Experience conducting engineering tests in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating design challenges and solutions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Creo (ProEngineer).
  • Experience in 3D Finite Element Analysis.
  • Experience with 3D Printing technologies.

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, with three or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Self-motivated and task-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
  • A collaborative team player who builds relationships with colleagues to foster team success.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD Secret level security clearance.
