Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist

The EEG Technologist will perform a variety of electroneurodiagnostic procedures on patients with suspected neurologic injury and disease. The Technologist is responsible for preparation of the patient for testing and the collection of information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results.
Responsibilities- Perform routine video EEG, extended video EEG, portable video EEG, and other procedures as necessary.
- Prepare patients for testing and collect information pertinent to the interpretation of test results.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, including age-related competencies.
- Accurately apply leads according to the International 10:20 System.
- Recognize and eliminate artifact and electrical interference to obtain high-quality tracings.
- Display each patient's activity in an optimal fashion for clinical interpretation.
- Provide appropriate patient care and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during seizures and other patient-emergency situations.
- Assist the Evoked Potential Specialist in performing routine Evoked Potential procedures as necessary.
- Participate in conferences, technical meetings, and other educational activities.
- Write a summary of the patient's neurological status and clinical history.
- Explain the procedure to the patient and/or any family members present.
- Answer phones, schedule procedures, and attend to front office responsibilities during periods of high volume or co-worker illness.
- Facilitate the transportation of equipment and patients as necessary.
- Maintain department records and prepare tracings for storage.
- Contribute to the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program in the institution and department.
- Maintain equipment in a calibrated and clean fashion.
- Distribute a Patient Satisfaction Survey to the patient or parent/guardian.
- Must be a technologist eligible for registration by the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists.
- Must have one year experience in electroencephalography.
- Must have a current CPR certificate.
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred.
- Proficient in computer operations.
