Job Summary

The Activity Director Assistant is responsible for supporting the Activity Director in planning, developing, and implementing activity programs for residents at The Alden Network. This role requires a strong understanding of therapeutic approaches and the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing activity programs that meet the needs and interests of residents.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic person-centered activity program that enhances the quality of life of each resident.
  • Conduct and oversee assessments to ensure that activity programs are tailored to individual resident needs.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to support residents with language barriers or other communication needs.
  • Collaborate with the Activity Director to develop and implement a volunteer program that engages residents, families, and community members.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in group and individual activity programming.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Experience with marketing and communication skills to promote the Activity Program to the community and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of activity programming and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Preferred associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Recreational Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Education, or Social Services.
  • Ability to complete the 36-Hour Basic Activity course and register as a Certified Activity Professional within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to drive the facility bus for outings and other activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of populations, including those with dementia and behavioral challenges.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push, pull, or carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to function independently and work effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Good health and ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile individuals.
