Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Support the Associate Vice President for Student Engagement and Dean of Students in leading the operations of their portfolio, working in close consultation with departmental directors.
    • Assist with managing key initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President.
    • Lead and/or co-lead key initiatives and special projects.
  • Communication and Representation
    • Provide direct support to the Associate Vice President, their senior leadership team, and other departmental leaders to develop, implement, and support programs that promote the functions of the Office of the Associate Vice President.
    • Assist with managing requests and issues that come to the Associate Vice President with a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
    • Represent the Associate Vice President in engaging with students, families, administration, faculty, staff, and the public as requested.
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Assist with the assessment and evaluation of programs and services; information gathering and analysis; drafting correspondence; report writing, and data visualization.
    • On an as-needed basis, provide leadership to departments in the Associate Vice President's portfolio during times of growth and transition.
  • Strategic Planning and Initiative Management
    • Support the Associate Vice President in developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives that promote student engagement and success.
    • Assist with managing key initiatives and special projects, including but not limited to, the development of new programs and services, the evaluation of existing programs and services, and the implementation of strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Relationship Building and Management
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and campus partners, including faculty, staff, students, and external organizations.
    • Interface regularly with the Chief of Staff to the Vice Provost of Student Affairs around communication requests and other requests.
  • Knowledge and Skills

    Requirements
    • Master's Degree required in student affairs, student development, counseling or a related area.
    • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible related experience in a higher education setting.
    • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional experience may substitute for required education as permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
