POSITION OVERVIEW: The Financial Aid Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding prospective and enrolled students through the financial assistance landscape associated with various academic programs at The Lake Erie College Of Osteopathic Medicine.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks may be expected from time to time:
  • Uphold and promote the mission of the institution;
  • Serve as a professional liaison with faculty, staff, and visitors;
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit a professional demeanor;
  • Authorize student payments and manage aid refunds;
  • Deliver informative financial aid presentations to prospective students;
  • Act as the Veterans Administration Certifying Official for eligible students;
  • Guide students through the financial aid application process;
  • Advise on financial aid sources, application methods, debt management, and academic progress;
  • Disburse federal financial aid in accordance with regulatory standards;
  • Process and certify student loan applications;
  • Assess financial need and verify eligibility for aid;
  • Collaborate with various agencies to facilitate financial aid disbursement;
  • Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with federal regulations;
  • Assist in developing budgets and educational resources for each academic cycle;
  • Conduct regular presentations on financial aid processes and eligibility;
  • Engage in campus events such as orientations and open houses;
  • Participate in professional development opportunities;
  • Communicate updates, deadlines, and scholarship information to students;
  • Perform data entry and clerical tasks to support departmental objectives;
  • Contribute to institutional fundraising efforts and participate in scholarship events;
  • Engage in scholarly activities to enhance the student learning experience;
  • Represent the institution in community outreach and service initiatives;
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: The Student Affairs Department operates as a cohesive unit, with members cross-trained to support daily operations. Other responsibilities may include:
  • Acquire knowledge of all programs to effectively address student inquiries;
  • Respond to communications regarding admissions;
  • Conduct campus tours for prospective students;
  • Assist in the applicant interview process, including greeting candidates and leading presentations;
  • Update applicant files and inform students of their application status;
  • Support the processing of applications for institutional programs;
  • Analyze program data and create reports as needed;
  • Assist in planning and executing on-campus admissions events;
  • Participate in significant college events throughout the academic year;
  • Support Admissions Representatives across all programs;
  • Provide backup support to the College Receptionist as necessary;
  • Offer Student Affairs support services to enrolled students; and
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure departmental efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of relevant experience are required. Candidates with backgrounds in finance, banking, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
