POSITION OVERVIEW: The Financial Aid Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding prospective and enrolled students through the financial assistance landscape for various programs at LECOM, including osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, and healthcare administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks are essential to the role:
  • Uphold and promote the mission of LECOM;
  • Serve as a professional liaison among faculty, staff, and visitors;
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit a professional demeanor;
  • Authorize student financial transactions related to aid;
  • Deliver informative financial aid presentations to prospective students;
  • Act as the Veteran's Administration Certifying Official, ensuring veterans receive their educational benefits;
  • Guide students through the financial aid application process;
  • Advise on financial aid sources, application methods, debt management, and academic progress;
  • Disburse federal financial aid in accordance with established regulations;
  • Certify and manage student loan applications;
  • Assess financial need and verify eligibility for aid;
  • Coordinate with various agencies for financial aid fund distribution;
  • Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with federal standards;
  • Assist in creating budgets and educational materials for academic years;
  • Conduct regular presentations on financial aid processes and eligibility;
  • Engage in campus events such as orientations and open houses;
  • Participate in professional development opportunities;
  • Communicate with students regarding updates, deadlines, and scholarship options;
  • Perform data entry and clerical tasks to support departmental objectives;
  • Contribute to LECOM's mission by engaging in fundraising and scholarship initiatives;
  • Participate in scholarly activities to enhance student learning experiences;
  • Represent LECOM in community engagements and outreach efforts;
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: The Student Affairs Department operates as a cohesive unit, and team members may be cross-trained for various responsibilities, including:
  • Familiarizing with all programs to address student inquiries;
  • Responding to admissions-related communications;
  • Conducting campus tours;
  • Assisting in the Applicant Interview process;
  • Updating applicant files and informing students of their application status;
  • Supporting the processing of Institutional Program applications;
  • Analyzing data and creating reports as needed;
  • Helping plan and execute on-campus admissions events;
  • Participating in significant college events;
  • Providing support to Admissions Representatives;
  • Serving as backup for the College Receptionist when necessary;
  • Offering Student Affairs support services to enrolled students;
  • Performing other duties as required to ensure departmental efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of relevant experience are required. Candidates with backgrounds in finance, banking, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
