Financial Systems Operations Engineer

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a skilled and self-driven engineer to join a dynamic international firm as it expands its footprint in the US market.

We seek a dedicated and technically proficient individual to thrive in a fast-paced setting, applying their skills in a diverse technical capacity. The successful candidate will integrate into our global Infrastructure and Technology Service team, operating from our Chicago office. In this multifaceted position, you will serve as the primary administrator, responsible for maintaining our trading IT systems, infrastructure, and facilities, while providing comprehensive support for the end-to-end trading application and DevOps framework to our trading team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct trading support to the trading team in Chicago.
  • Administer and support essential trading systems and infrastructure within a distributed framework.
  • Oversee systems administration for Windows and Linux servers, PCs, networking devices, and IT hardware.
  • Collaborate closely with global teams on IT-related projects and support initiatives.
  • Engage in project work aimed at enhancing existing systems, processes, and automation.
  • Assist Traders and Developers with their technical inquiries.
  • Coordinate with external IT vendors and manage their tasks effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures through monitoring and adherence.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in application trading support.
  • 3+ years of experience administering a RHEL/Fedora environment with automation skills.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Windows PCs and Linux servers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Comprehensive systems administration experience with key technologies such as Cisco routers, VMWare, vServer, and saltstack.
  • Strong independent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and initiative.
  • Capability to meet commitments and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting production trading environments, ideally across multiple data centers.
  • Solid understanding of basic networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, and OSI model layers 1-3.
  • Proficient scripting and automation skills, preferably in Python.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Familiarity with equity derivatives is highly regarded.
  • Experience with firewalls or access control lists is advantageous.
