Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, the Buffet Service Specialist is responsible for the setup and maintenance of buffet and hors d'oeuvres functions to meet the standards established by the Chef.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, dismantle, and clean all equipment utilized for buffet services.
  • Ensure appropriate food temperatures are maintained for all buffet items, hors d'oeuvres, and hot boxes.
  • Keep buffets visually appealing and well-stocked; manage the levels of plates and utensils.
  • Serve soup to guests as they navigate through the buffet.
  • Return unused food to the kitchen for proper storage.
  • Clean buffet tables and polish service equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen staff to ensure a sufficient supply of food.
  • Uphold high standards of sanitation and safety in all kitchen areas.
  • Report any issues encountered during the shift to the Supervisor.
  • Set up and store table displays as needed.
  • Assist the Dishwasher when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and one year of relevant experience in the hospitality sector or restaurant environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including customer service abilities.
  • Familiarity with fine dining etiquette.
  • Knowledge of menu items and their ingredients.
  • Ability to creatively present food items.
  • Proficient communication skills in English.
  • Physical Requirements: Heavy work involving stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, and hearing. Visual acuity is necessary for tasks performed at or within arm's reach. The role may involve both indoor and outdoor activities.
