Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, the Buffet Service Specialist is responsible for setting up and maintaining buffet and hors d'oeuvres functions to the standards established by the Chef.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, dismantle, and clean all equipment for buffet functions.
  • Ensure proper food temperatures for all buffet items, hors d'oeuvres, and hot boxes.
  • Maintain an appealing and abundant presentation of buffets; ensure the availability of plates and silverware.
  • Serve soup to guests as they navigate through the buffet.
  • Return unused food to the kitchen for appropriate storage.
  • Clean buffet tables and polish equipment to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen staff to ensure sufficient food supply.
  • Uphold a high level of sanitation and safety in all kitchen areas.
  • Report any issues encountered during the shift to the Supervisor.
  • Set up and store table displays as needed.
  • Assist the Dishwasher when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and one year of relevant experience in the hospitality industry or restaurant environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent customer service abilities.
  • Familiarity with fine dining etiquette.
  • Knowledge of menu items and their ingredients.
  • Ability to creatively present food items.
  • Proficient communication skills in English.
  • Physical Requirements: Heavy work involving stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, and hearing. The worker must have visual acuity to perform tasks where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach. Activities occur both indoors and outdoors.
