About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join our Waterproofing Division at F.D. Thomas, Inc. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for preparing and developing full estimates for large and complex projects related to below grade and above grade waterproofing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, and scope to prepare accurate job cost estimates and assemble bid packages.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and budgets, and establish profit and overhead for projects as required.
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and unit pricing using established company production rates.
  • Communicate with general contractors, owners, vendors, and trades to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Secure vendor pricing and select vendors and subcontractors based on cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to cover scope in the most cost-effective way.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality checks are in place throughout the project.
  • Assist project managers with buyouts, purchasing, and change orders as needed.
  • Participate in estimating meetings and attend pre-job meetings, project job walks, and bid days as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in construction, with a minimum of 5 years in estimating.
  • Degree or certification in a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of Constructware and/or Viewpoint.
  • Excellent analytical, math, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to accurately learn new software quickly.
