Job Title: Natural Resource Specialist

Jefferson County, Colorado is seeking a highly skilled Natural Resource Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our conservation team, you will play a critical role in the management and preservation of our natural resources.

Job Summary:

The Natural Resource Specialist will be responsible for assisting with vegetation inventory and monitoring efforts, identifying native and non-native plants, and collecting and analyzing data to inform conservation decisions. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the preservation of our natural resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with vegetation inventory and monitoring efforts in varied landscapes
  • Identify native and non-native plants using dichotomous keys
  • Collect and analyze data to inform conservation decisions
  • Work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary ecological team
  • Quickly learn and follow complex survey protocols
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in wildlife ecology, biology, natural resource management, or a similar field
  • 1 or more years of work-related experience in wildlife conservation and management, natural resources, or a similar field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with field identification of native and non-native plants of Colorado
  • Experience conducting vegetation inventory and monitoring
  • Experience conducting rare plant surveys
  • Experience collecting/planting native seed
  • Experience with ArcGIS software, including mobile mapping software
