About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Natural Resource Specialist to join our team at Jefferson County, Colorado. As a key member of our conservation team, you will play a critical role in the management and preservation of our natural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with vegetation inventory and monitoring efforts in varied landscapes, including identifying native and nonnative plants using dichotomous keys, establishing and collecting vegetation data from monitoring transects and plots, and working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary ecological team.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including navigating mountain roads using trucks and potentially UTVs, and hiking long distances over rough terrain using GPS or other navigation tools.
  • Collect and analyze data, including vegetation data, to inform conservation and management decisions.
  • Assist with the development of natural resource management plans and reports, and provide public outreach and education on conservation and management efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in wildlife ecology, biology, natural resource management, or a similar field.
  • 1 or more years of work-related experience in wildlife conservation and management, natural resources, or a similar field.
  • Experience with field identification of native and nonnative plants of Colorado, conducting vegetation inventory and monitoring, and collecting/planting native seed.
  • Experience with ArcGIS software, including mobile mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS, Collector).
