Summary


The Dining Service Associate is responsible for a range of dining service tasks, ensuring clean, sanitary, and organized dining areas, facilities, and equipment, while also assisting in food preparation when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts designated work routines utilizing various dining service tools, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
  • Supports all aspects of dining service setup in dining rooms and catered events, including preparing beverages, salads, desserts, and other food items as directed and according to recipes; Ensures all food is served at appropriate temperatures and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with dining room arrangements, including setting tables, replenishing buffets, and serving residents.
  • Participates in the cleanup process to maintain dining service areas in compliance with policies and standards by completing daily cleaning tasks, bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and properly stocking and storing items.
  • Assists in receiving and organizing food and supplies.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and procedures as mandated by LSS policy, federal and state regulations, and standard food handling practices, promptly reporting any hazardous conditions, defective equipment, or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Maintains necessary documentation, including checking and recording food temperatures in HACCP logs, tracking product usage and waste, and noting any other required information.
  • Follows infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, food storage, waste disposal, and wearing protective gear when handling cleaning agents and waste.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

To excel in this role, an individual must successfully perform each essential duty

  • Prior experience in dining service is preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipe instructions, dietary orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
  • Willingness to engage in routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Must exhibit patience and tolerance with staff, residents, and family members.
  • Must have or be willing to receive a Hepatitis A vaccination if working within St. Louis County (in accordance with County health regulations).

The Dining Service Associate stands and walks intermittently throughout the workday, as well as reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries, and manipulates various food products, dietary supplies, and equipment.

This role requires the ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents and to endure temperature and humidity fluctuations, such as entering refrigerated storage areas and working at ovens, ranges, dishwashers, and steam tables.

This employee must be free from infections or diseases.
