Summary


The Dining Service Associate is responsible for a range of dining service tasks, ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of dining spaces, equipment, and may assist with food preparation duties.

Responsibilities

  • Executes designated work routines utilizing various dining service tools, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
  • Supports all aspects of dining service setup in dining areas and at catered functions, including the preparation of beverages, salads, desserts, and other food items as directed and in accordance with established recipes; ensures all meals are served at appropriate temperatures and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with dining room arrangements, including table settings, buffet stocking, and serving residents.
  • Participates in the cleanup process to maintain dining service areas in compliance with policies and standards by completing daily cleaning tasks, clearing tables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and properly storing items.
  • Helps in receiving and organizing food and supply deliveries.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and procedures as outlined by LSS policy, federal and state regulations, and standard food handling practices, promptly reporting any hazardous conditions, defective equipment, or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Keeps accurate records, including checking and documenting food temperatures in HACCP logs, tracking product usage and waste, and noting any other necessary information.
  • Follows infection control guidelines, including proper hand hygiene, food storage, waste disposal, and wearing protective gear when handling cleaning agents and waste.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

To excel in this role, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty effectively.

  • Prior experience in dining service is preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipe instructions, dietary orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
  • Willingness to engage in routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Must demonstrate patience and understanding when interacting with staff, residents, and family members.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Hepatitis A vaccination if working within St. Louis County, in accordance with local health regulations.

This role necessitates the ability to work with cleaning chemicals and withstand temperature and humidity variations, such as entering refrigerated storage areas and working with ovens, ranges, dishwashing machines, and steam tables.
