Position Summary


The Culinary Service Associate is responsible for a range of dining service tasks, ensuring that dining areas, facilities, and equipment are kept clean, sanitary, and organized, while also assisting in certain food preparation duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executes established work routines utilizing various dining service tools, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
  • Supports all facets of dining service setup in dining areas and at catered functions, including the preparation of beverages, salads, desserts, and other food items as directed and in line with recipes; Ensures all food is served at appropriate temperatures and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with dining room arrangements, including table settings, buffet stocking, and serving residents.
  • Participates in all aspects of cleanup to maintain dining service areas in accordance with policies and standards by completing daily cleaning tasks, clearing tables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and properly stocking and storing items.
  • Assists in the receipt and storage of food and supplies.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and procedures as mandated by LSS policy, federal and state regulations, and standard food handling practices, promptly reporting any hazardous conditions, defective equipment, or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Maintains necessary documentation, including checking and recording food temperatures in HACCP logs, tracking product usage and waste, and documenting any other required information.
  • Follows infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, food storage, waste disposal, and wearing protective gear when handling waste and cleaning agents.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

To successfully perform this role, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty effectively.

  • Prior experience in dining service is preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipe instructions, dietary orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
  • Willingness to engage in routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Must exhibit patience and understanding towards staff, residents, and family members.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Hepatitis A vaccination if working within specific health regulations.

This role requires the ability to work with cleaning chemicals and withstand exposure to temperature and humidity variations, such as entering refrigerated storage areas and working with ovens, ranges, dishwashers, and steam tables.
