Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States M&T Bank Full time
OVERVIEW

Assess and identify the credit risks associated with the most significant and intricate commercial real estate clients through comprehensive financial statement evaluations, industry analysis, collateral assessments, cash flow scrutiny, and repayment capability assessments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the continuous credit risk management of current loan portfolios via ongoing credit surveillance (OCS) activities, facilitating the prompt detection of emerging credit risks to implement appropriate measures for risk management, loss mitigation, and accurate risk rating assignment. An OCS program encompasses but is not limited to annual evaluations (including PLRs and Guarantor Assessments), interim update reports, a covenant monitoring framework, problem loan oversight, early warning signals, and various credit monitoring techniques.
  • Examine all relevant credit and financial data, including but not limited to financial statements, tax documentation, due diligence assessments, credit reports, appraisals, internal credit evaluations, industry insights, and peer analysis. Assess the necessity for deeper investigation or supplementary information.
  • Evaluate financial data and associated documentation while conducting ongoing credit surveillance for the Bank's commercial dealings. Customer risk assessments are performed continuously, focusing on identifying emerging risks or significant changes in customers' financial standings, including compliance with loan agreements. Analyses should include an independent credit quality evaluation for existing loans with well-supported risk rating justifications, identification of credit risks and mitigations, industry challenges, market dynamics, financial trends, and other relevant credit considerations.
  • Act as a liaison between Commercial Banking Relationship Managers and the Underwriting Team to facilitate customer credit requirements, whether through new applications, modifications, or annual assessments/renewals. This includes documenting and tracking pertinent information, reports, and memos to ensure that necessary credit approvals are secured, documented, and adhered to from initiation through closing and maintenance, ensuring timely and precise risk ratings for a portfolio of commercial credits.
  • Analyze financial statements and construct financial models to assess various conditions affecting the proposed transactions. Develop cash flow projections, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity analyses, financial models, and guarantor statement evaluations as needed.
  • Monitor the credit performance of customer portfolios and escalate or address issues as necessary.
  • Ensure the timeliness of monitoring activities and verify compliance with credit policies by evaluating adherence to the Commercial Credit Policy and assessing any risks associated with non-compliance.
  • Present analyses or respond to inquiries during credit discussions or presentations.
  • May participate in client meetings with Relationship Managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client/prospect and their business, effectively aiding in annual assessments, renewals, and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Comply with applicable compliance and operational risk controls in line with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Foster an environment that promotes diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Uphold M&T internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit findings along with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
SCOPE
