Job Title: Substance Use Professional

SouthLight Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Use Professional to join our Community Support Team in Durham County. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

Job Summary:

The Substance Use Professional will work closely with clients in the Durham community, providing psychoeducation, crisis interventions, and behavioral and substance use disorder treatment interventions. You will also assist with the development of relapse prevention and disease management strategies, coordinate initial and ongoing assessment activities, and participate in weekly supervision and team meetings.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet with clients in the Durham community, providing support and guidance as needed
  • Provide psychoeducation and crisis interventions to clients
  • Assist with behavioral and substance use disorder treatment interventions
  • Develop relapse prevention and disease management strategies with clients
  • Coordinate initial and ongoing assessment activities
  • Participate in weekly supervision and team meetings
Requirements:
  • Two years' experience working directly with adults with mental health and substance use disorders
  • Two years' experience working in a community mental health setting, preferred
  • CCS, LCAS, LCAS-A, or CADC certification required
  • Excellent clinical skills, including evidence-based practices and diagnostic information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Comfortable working independently in the community
  • Excellent written and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with electronic health records systems
  • Ability to manage crisis situations both in person and over the phone
