Housing Stability Specialist

At CAPECO, we are seeking a dedicated Housing Navigator to join our team in the Housing Stability department. This role is designed to guide individuals and families through the complex landscape of housing options, services, and resources.

The Housing Navigator will work to remove barriers to housing access by maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of available housing and application processes. They will conduct detailed confidential intake and eligibility assessments for potential housing program participants while assessing the clients' housing needs and preferences.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to engage with those experiencing homelessness that may be experiencing crisis. They will participate in community outreach events, respond to homeless service requests made by city staff, law enforcement, businesses, and concerned residents in a timely manner, and conduct mobile outreach to the unsheltered chronically homeless living on the streets and in other places not meant for human habitation.

The Housing Navigator will also assist households in their search for housing, including identifying housing, facilitating the application process for housing, which includes gathering necessary documentation and ensuring timely submission of applications, and interpreting leases. They will provide clients with information on tenants' rights, responsibilities, and advocate on behalf of clients to ensure housing accommodations are made in compliance with fair housing laws.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The ideal candidate will have an associate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. They will also have computer experience and a working knowledge of Word and Excel.
