Material Handler

Position Overview:

The Material Handler plays a crucial role in the efficient movement and management of materials within the organization.

Department: Various Departments

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Interpret job orders to identify materials and components that need to be relocated.
  2. Safely load and unload materials from storage units and shelves.
  3. Utilize equipment for the effective movement of materials.
  4. Organize materials in designated locations to ensure accessibility when required.
  5. Review production schedules and inventory records to ascertain the types and quantities of materials needed.
  6. Coordinate with supervisory staff regarding overdue materials and their status.
  7. Transfer materials between storage and operational areas as needed.
  8. Inspect materials for accuracy, including part numbers, and address any discrepancies.
  9. Match job specifications with materials used at workstations to ensure compliance.
  10. Prioritize tasks to align with shipping timelines.
  11. Assist in the preparation of materials for welding and grinding operations.
  12. Support the handling of larger components in designated areas.
  13. Prepare materials for subsequent shifts.
  14. Maintain accurate inventory records and track material movements.
  15. Assist in assembly and shipping processes as required.
  16. Document transactions and maintain logs as necessary.
  17. Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including battery replacements.
  18. Operate all equipment safely and in accordance with established protocols.

Quality Assurance Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and report nonconforming products and services.
  2. Understand the ISO Quality and Documentation System.
  3. Take proactive measures to prevent any nonconformities related to products or processes.
  4. Participate in quality audits and contribute to the development of quality plans.
  5. Adhere to safety policies and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Qualifications:

  1. Forklift certification is required.
  2. Previous experience in manufacturing is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  2. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching is necessary.
  3. Regular lifting and moving of materials is required.
