Job Overview

Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Role Objective:

This role is focused on conducting preventive and predictive maintenance, as well as performing repairs on various industrial and production equipment, utility systems, and facility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections to identify machinery or equipment requiring repairs.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions to determine necessary corrective actions.
  • Schedule repairs based on work orders and maintenance plans.
  • Carry out routine maintenance on machinery, utility systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Perform maintenance tasks on electrical systems and PLC/Controls.
  • Inspect the premises and grounds; address any necessary repairs.
  • Procure supplies and materials essential for maintenance and repairs.
  • Execute basic maintenance and operations of HVAC systems.
  • Adhere to Lock-Out-Tag-Out protocols and all safety regulations.
  • Possess knowledge of general carpentry and the use of power tools.
  • Conduct welding repairs and fabrication as required.
  • Assist operators to ensure smooth operational processes.

  • Be available for overtime as required, whether scheduled or on-call.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to accept constructive feedback for professional growth.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
  • A minimum of a Special Engineer class Boiler License or willingness to obtain one.
  • Knowledge and experience in electrical systems and PLC/Controls.
  • A willingness to obtain an Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration certificate.
  • The ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and P&ID documents.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and regulations.
  • Proven ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a team.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Forklift certification and experience or willingness to obtain certification.
  • A proactive approach to personal and professional development.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in the work environment.

This position operates within both an office and a manufacturing environment. Inside the office, the employee is typically exposed to standard office conditions with a noise level that is usually quiet to moderate. In the manufacturing facility, the employee may encounter normal working conditions of a food manufacturing environment, where noise levels can range from moderate to loud. The role involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, as well as laboratory instruments.

While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. The role may require standing for long periods and using hands for reaching or handling tasks. Employees may need to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally, the employee may lift or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities must include close-up work. There may be times when extended hours are necessary to meet deadlines.

During job performance, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles, and hazardous materials, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Adverse weather conditions, high places, and confined spaces may also be encountered. In some environments, hearing protection may be required due to elevated noise levels.
