Job Overview

Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Role Objective:

The Maintenance Technician is tasked with executing preventative and predictive maintenance, alongside repairs for various industrial and production equipment, as well as utility and facility systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections to identify machinery requiring repairs.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions to ascertain necessary corrective actions.
  • Schedule repairs based on work orders and maintenance timelines.
  • Perform routine upkeep on machinery, utility, and facility systems.
  • Maintain electrical and PLC/Controls systems.
  • Inspect premises and grounds, addressing repairs as needed.
  • Procure necessary supplies and materials for maintenance tasks.
  • Handle basic HVAC system maintenance and operations.
  • Adhere to Lock-Out-Tag-Out protocols and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of general carpentry and power tools.
  • Execute welding repairs and fabrication when required.
  • Assist operators to ensure smooth operational flow.

Candidate Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Self-motivation and receptiveness to constructive feedback.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
  • A minimum of a Special Engineer class Boiler License or willingness to obtain one.
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical/PLC/Controls systems.
  • A willingness to pursue an Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration certificate.
  • The ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and P&ID documents.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Capability to build and maintain effective working relationships within a team.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and remain standing for extended periods.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.
  • A collaborative spirit and a drive for personal development.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.

This position operates within both a professional office and a manufacturing environment. While in the office, the employee is exposed to standard office conditions with a noise level that is typically quiet to moderate. In the manufacturing plant, the employee may encounter moderate to loud noise levels typical of a food manufacturing facility. The role involves the use of standard office equipment, as well as laboratory instruments.

While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, stand for long periods, and utilize hands for various tasks. The role may also require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasionally, the employee may lift or move up to 25 pounds and must have the ability to perform close-up work.

Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to machinery, airborne particles, and hazardous materials, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Adverse weather conditions, extended hours, and confined spaces may also be encountered.
