Core Responsibilities:
  • Support the school leader and Choice Schools Associates in various assigned tasks.
  • Curriculum & Instruction:
    • Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional spaces.
    • Help in the preparation and distribution of lesson materials.
    • Provide instruction to students under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
    • Maintain individual student records as requested by the classroom teacher.
    • Ensure the classroom remains organized and conducive to learning.
    • Utilize resources effectively to enhance learning activities.
    • Exhibit exemplary classroom techniques, including effective questioning and clear communication.
    Classroom Management:
    • Collaborate with parents to build confidence in the classroom teacher.
    • Guide students in cooperative play and work.
    • Show genuine concern for students while maintaining high expectations.
    • Model responsible citizenship through actions.
    • Establish a classroom environment based on fairness, respect, and responsibility.
    Student Enrollment & Retention:
    • Contribute to marketing efforts for the academy within the community.
    Professional Development & Leadership:
    • Engage in the development of policies that impact instruction and success.
    • Foster professional relationships among staff and participate in important out-of-class activities.
    • Adhere to professional and ethical standards.
    • Exhibit personal qualities that positively reflect on the individual and the academy.
    • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the School Leader.
    Facilities Management:
    • Ensure the learning environment is orderly and that instructional facilities and equipment are used safely and appropriately.
Job Objective: To provide dedicated assistance to educators and students, enhancing instructional activities and promoting an inclusive learning atmosphere. The Educational Support Specialist aims to facilitate student engagement and understanding by offering personalized attention and reinforcing lesson concepts. Through collaboration with teachers, this role contributes to the academic growth and success of students, fostering a positive educational experience for all.

Essential Skills and Competencies: While we welcome diverse backgrounds, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Completion of at least two years of higher education (equivalent to 60 semester hours) or an associate's degree (or higher); or meet a rigorous standard of quality through formal assessments.
  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Strong communication skills with students, staff, and guardians.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication using proper grammar.
  • Demonstrated strong work habits verified by previous employers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or valid teaching certificate.
  • Experience working with at-risk students.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting with school-age children.
