Job Overview

Position Summary:

  • Join the manufacturing engineering team at Artech LLC, contributing to intricate projects; engage in the design, programming, simulation, and testing of automated machinery and processes; develop equipment and fixtures, and evaluate production workflows to optimize automation utilization; conduct routine maintenance on automation systems, including troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration. Proficient in Automated Electromechanical / Mechatronic systems within a manufacturing context, with hands-on experience in advanced automation technologies, including robotics, pneumatics, servos, and PLCs.

Comprehensive Responsibilities

  • Establish and uphold precise documentation of automation systems and processes.
  • Assist in the acquisition and setup of equipment, along with other assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams, facilitating communication and recommending design modifications as necessary.
  • Design fixtures and tooling; assess processes for enhanced throughput and address issues related to products and workflows.
  • Execute special assignments within or outside the department as requested.
  • Identify problem resolutions and implement enhancements.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and workflows to discover improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and execute cost-reduction strategies and quality assurance systems.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes and equipment meet capability and capacity standards.
  • Investigate and create new processes, equipment, and product introductions (NPI).
  • Guarantee compliance of manufacturing processes and equipment with safety regulations.
  • Engage in cross-functional meetings to promote collaboration.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in supporting and designing automated systems.
  • At least two years of practical experience in a production or assembly setting.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in programming and software development, as many aspects of this role require computer usage.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills to debug or resolve issues with existing systems.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels and within multidisciplinary teams. Strong written communication skills are essential for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Problem-solving and innovative thinking abilities to address challenges as they arise and devise effective solutions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to stay current with emerging techniques and technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Project Management, Risk Assessment, and Design of Experiments is desirable.
