Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service by training and holding store associates accountable for excellent customer service.
- Achieve department financials by identifying and implementing best practices and optimization strategies.
- Directly lead department staff, focusing on accountability and achieving high-level business performance outcomes.
- Develop department staff through annual appraisals, supervision reports, and performance reviews.
- Implement visual merchandising and planogram strategies to enhance the shopping experience.
- Effectively utilize resources to improve productivity, flexibility, and efficiencies of labor and quality of shopping experience.
- Oversee schematic implementation, stocking standards, and back room organization.
- Manage product rotation, spoils, shrink, and markdowns.
- Ensure department cleanliness and conditions.
- Manage sign and price integrity.
- Prepare bakery products according to company guidelines and special orders as requested by customers.
- Train department staff on department procedures, including food preparation and packaging, safety, and department planning tools.
- Order product using the order/inventory system.
- Analyze and manage product performance to maximize sales and profitability.
- Manage department inventory accuracy.
- Contribute to overall store conditions, ensuring a safe working and shopping experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and training skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and suggestive selling ability.
- Strong organization, administration, and math skills.
- Knowledge of department operations and financials, bakery products, food safety, and hazardous materials rules and regulations.
- Baking and decorating techniques, visual merchandising techniques, and use and care of professional bakery equipment and tools.
- Applicable union contractual agreement language.
One year of college or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience. Two years of bakery department experience or current produce, meat, or center store department manager role.
Physical DemandsRequires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis. Requires lifting up to 40 lbs.
