Job Overview

Position Objective:

As a Financial Planning Consultant at Blue Ridge Bank, you will engage with clients to identify their financial aspirations and objectives, encompassing areas such as Estate planning, Investment strategy, and Insurance solutions. Your role will involve crafting and executing tailored financial plans that align with each client's unique circumstances. You will uphold the highest standards of conduct, adhering to bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while fostering business growth through proactive referrals.

Financial Planning Consultants will benefit from mentorship opportunities within their markets, support for licensing and examination prerequisites, branch referrals, and access to a portfolio of clients along with incentive programs. You will operate from an office within the branch, serving clients in the designated market area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with both new and existing clients to evaluate their financial needs and recommend suitable products and services, taking into account their individual risk profiles.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and stay informed about current regulations.
  • Utilize sound judgment and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges, considering alternative solutions and adjusting decisions as necessary.
  • Work efficiently within established parameters, budgets, and timelines to guarantee quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct educational seminars to inform colleagues and the community on various financial topics.
  • Build professional relationships with other financial advisors, accountants, CPAs, and attorneys for mutual referrals.
  • Maintain open communication channels to enhance collaboration, minimize conflicts, and prevent unexpected situations.
  • Represent Blue Ridge Bank and take a leadership role in significant community activities, including business, charitable, and social organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Create value for the bank and its stakeholders.
  • Exhibit teamwork and embody our core values.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, law, or a related business discipline.
  • Possession of the necessary state licenses for Life and Health Insurance, as well as Annuities.
  • Successful completion of the Series 7 and Series 63 examinations.
  • Completion of the Series 65 exam and certifications such as CLU, CLFC, and CFP are preferred but not mandatory.

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership capabilities, including creativity, vision, initiative, and integrity.
  • Strong understanding of compliance with state and federal laws regarding financial planning, alongside banking policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, board members, employees, and clients.
  • A highly motivated and detail-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) and relevant industry software.

Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of compliance with state and federal regulations concerning financial planning and banking operations.
  • Capacity to learn and adapt to bank-specific software systems.
