Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women. As a LPN, you will provide evidence-based nursing care to patients, administer medications, and provide first aid and basic life support as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients, including administering medications and providing first aid and basic life support.
  • Screen for sick call and maintain open lines of communication with security and treatment staff.
  • Record all pertinent information into the medical record and interact with other departments as needed.
  • Promote continued competence through education and certification with a focus on correctional nursing.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license.
  • Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care.
  • Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment.
  • Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care.
