Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide evidence-based nursing care to patients, utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices, and techniques of general nursing care as determined by Standards of Practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Screen patients for sick call and administer medications as needed
  • Provide first aid and basic life support to patients and employees
  • Maintain open lines of communication with security and treatment staff
  • Record all pertinent information into the medical record
  • Interact with other departments as needed
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license
  • Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care
  • Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment
  • Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care
