Director of Value Delivery

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a seasoned Director of Value Delivery to lead our project management capability and drive business outcomes. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for defining and implementing standards, deliverables, and processes for project management, while ensuring consistency across project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:
  • Lead and manage a high-performing team of project managers, focusing on building capabilities and driving holistic execution.
  • Develop and implement agile operating models, upskilling project managers as needed, and continuously evolving the operating model.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement, prioritizing value-orientation and driving adoption of business process changes.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, allocate project managers to projects/programs, and prioritize requests based on value potential.
  • Regularly assess and communicate progress, timelines, budget, and value delivered.
  • Work with project managers to identify and mitigate risks, issues, and escalate to stakeholders for resolution.
Portfolio and Pipeline Management:
  • Own the technology portfolio, including a robust prioritization process, and manage ongoing work against timelines, spend, and value.
  • Rigorously manage impact against committed outcomes, proposing changes to the portfolio to ensure targets are met.
  • Define and track metrics at each level of the organization, aggregating and communicating to relevant audiences.
  • Own the technology roadmap, communicating it across relevant audiences.
Budgeting and Planning:
  • Redefine the planning and budgeting process to align with an agile operating model, focusing on outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Finance to run the planning and budgeting process, assessing progress on a monthly basis.
  • Manage and maintain standard outputs created by teams for the budgeting and planning process.
  • Manage the budget and plans using a structured portfolio allocation approach, escalating and problem-solving as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in project management, portfolio management, and measurement in an agile context.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience managing and developing large, high-performing teams.
  • Ability to influence and navigate complex situations without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in large technology organizations.
