Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. You will also be responsible for notifying donors of unsuitable test results and working under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
  • Evaluate donor reactions, which occur at the facility, and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues.
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
