Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our Legal team in Waltham, Massachusetts. This role will report directly to the Head of Legal and requires exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders. The primary responsibilities include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, such as license agreements, service agreements, and research agreements, all while adhering to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and advise stakeholders on negotiations of Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), license agreements, service agreements, and materials transfer agreements with pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, as well as research institutions.
  • Assist in the negotiation and drafting of various vendor agreements.
  • Engage in external business and corporate development discussions as necessary.
  • Maintain and manage company records; oversee the document management system.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts among customers and vendors.
  • Provide legal counsel to various business units (operations, HR, finance, R&D, etc.) to ensure adherence to applicable laws and company policies.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or equivalent in-house role within the pharmaceutical or biotech sector.
  • Familiarity with commercial contracts relevant to the biotech industry.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a balanced approach to risk management.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Active law license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
