Clinical Laboratory Scientist Intern:

As an intern in the Clinical Laboratory Science program, you will undergo a comprehensive twelve-month training regimen, guided by seasoned professionals in the field.
Interns will rotate through the following key departments:
Hematology, Coagulation, and Phlebotomy (11 weeks), Clinical Chemistry (13 weeks), Urinalysis (3 weeks), Microbiology (12 weeks), Immunohematology (7 weeks), and Immunology/Serology (3 weeks).
Assessments will be conducted at the end of each rotation, along with periodic written evaluations throughout the training.
Upon successful completion of the program, interns will be eligible to take the national certification examination in Clinical Laboratory Science.
Key Responsibilities:
Regular attendance is essential, and you may be required to adhere to a specific shift schedule, which could include rotating shifts, extended hours, and/or overtime as needed. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Essential Movement Requirements: Operate laboratory instruments and accurately manage laboratory data using computer systems.
- Essential Communication Requirements: Read and interpret technical documents, follow detailed instructions, and effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Essential Intellectual Requirements: Demonstrate critical thinking skills, including analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Essential Behavioral Requirements: Manage time effectively, adhere to hospital policies, and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Other Essential Requirements: Work safely with biohazardous materials and support team members in their professional endeavors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of fundamental biological, chemical, and immunological processes. Proficiency in laboratory practices and safety protocols. Ability to maintain accurate records and operate various laboratory equipment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for success in this role.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
To qualify, candidates must have completed the necessary prerequisite coursework for entry into the Clinical Laboratory Science Program.
Upon successful completion of the internship, participants will receive a degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution or must have obtained a relevant degree prior to the program.
