Coach-Mentor Specialist

Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB) is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to serve as Coach-Mentors. As a Coach-Mentor, you will play a vital role in delivering basketball training and academic curriculum to our participants, while fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes positive relationships and character development.
Key Responsibilities:- Create a safe and inclusive environment for youth and families
- Deliver off-court curriculum and facilitate on-court basketball youth development plans
- Embed the PYB Way Culture into every aspect of the programmatic experience
- Serve as a positive role model to participants, caregivers, and the PYB community
- Troubleshoot with other staff members and collaborate with facility teams
- Experience working with youth in schools, after-school, or community settings
- Enthusiasm and dedication to improving the lives of youth and families
- Proven understanding of the game of basketball and its multi-faceted competencies
- Strong commitment to positive coaching and mentorship
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Positive communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- A genuine comfort level with diverse communities
- Commitment to ongoing growth and professional development
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $15-$25, commensurate with experience, for up to 40 hours per week. Coach-Mentors can flex their time across multiple PYB programs.
Clearances:All staff members must possess or obtain the following state and federal clearances before engaging in any hands-on activities with young people participating in Philadelphia Youth Basketball programs.
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check (SP4 164)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form (CY-113)
- Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Background Check (Criminal History Report), if applicable
- Mandated Reporters - Certificate
- National Sex Offender Verification
Coach-Mentors must be available for professional development in between program breaks. Total available hours during the program breaks are at the discretion of the hiring manager.
