Job Description:

The Seed Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Seed Laboratory, including purity and germination testing, seed sample data management, and laboratory equipment maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of seed testing procedures, laboratory protocols, and quality assurance standards.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of professional experience in seed testing or a related field. They will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform purity and germination testing on seed samples to verify quality and purity
  • Identify and categorize common and uncommon seed species to determine appropriate testing methods
  • Maintain seed sample data and clean and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Generate, review, and interpret lab results and report discrepancies to the supervisor for regulatory action

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Three years of professional experience in seed testing or a related field
  • Working knowledge of USDA Federal Seed Act, AOSA, ISTA, or Canadian seed testing rules
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full-time experience performing purity, germination, or special tests on seeds
  • Training providing knowledge of the Federal Seed Act and AOSA or SCST rules for testing seeds
