Job Summary:

The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) is seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Laboratory Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing chemical, physical, and biological analyses for both the agency regulatory program and the regulated industry and public. You will also maintain proper quality assurance and laboratory certifications in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform, modify, and develop methods for chemical, physical, or biological analysis to identify the purity and concentration of substances.
  • Assist and consult on field sampling, handling, and preservation procedures.
  • Maintain adequate laboratory equipment and quality assurance procedures.
  • Perform recording and mathematical or statistical analysis and interpretation of analysis results.
  • Resolve technical issues and oversee the supervision of personnel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties.
  • Knowledge of university and department policies and procedures.
  • Accreditation and certification requirements and standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full-time experience performing purity, germination, or special tests on seeds.
  • Working knowledge of AOSA, Canada, and ISTA Seed Testing Rules.

Working Conditions:

The work environment involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Light physical effort is required, with handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
