Position Overview:

The Experiential Therapist II is tasked with the creation, organization, execution, and assessment of experiential therapy initiatives across various specialized treatment domains. This role necessitates collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and community resources, employing a variety of experiential mediums and activities, such as adventure-based programs, arts and crafts, music, and more, to improve psychosocial functioning within a psychiatric environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and evaluate programs in specialized treatment areas.
  • Ensure basic staffing needs and departmental functions are met in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Oversee and assess the performance of student interns.
  • Effectively apply expressive activities with patient groups in a psychiatric setting.
  • Utilize recreational activities to assist patients in developing recovery skills.
  • Provide individualized treatment in a group context.
  • Exhibit knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques.
Additional Information:

Education and Training Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in art, music, dance, recreation, or related fields is required, with a preference for a Master's degree.
  • Preferred certification/registration through the relevant credentialing board.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of employment is required.
  • Health Provider CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Training in managing aggressive patients is required within 60 days of hire, including self-defense training.
  • Ropes and Challenge Course training with annual renewal is necessary.
