Job Title: Academic Coach

Position Overview:

  • Job Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt, 15-20 hours per week
  • Position Code: MTHAC
  • Schedule: Flexible hours available, primarily Monday through Friday

The Academic Coach will act as a mathematics expert, delivering specialized support and instruction to students engaged in the mathematics curriculum. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver supplemental instruction in complex mathematics courses
  • Organize regular coaching sessions for students needing additional support
  • Create mathematics learning modules for courses outside of the math department
  • Collaborate with faculty to enhance student learning through supplemental instruction
  • Utilize educational software for tailored student assistance
  • Participate in required training sessions
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the institution

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and prioritize support for at-risk students
  • Establish trusting relationships with a diverse student body
  • Organize workshops and projects focused on academic skills development
  • Support students with varying levels of mathematical proficiency and motivation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of diverse student backgrounds
  • Work independently with a flexible schedule
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee university and/or student staff as assigned
  • Other supervisory duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field
  • Experience in providing student support and instruction
  • Familiarity with educational software for mathematics
  • Ability to manage confidential information
