Job Title: Academic Coach

Position Overview:

  • Position Code: MTHAC
  • Job Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt, 15-20 hours per week, 10-month position
  • Schedule: Flexible hours, typically Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

The Academic Coach will act as a mathematics content authority, delivering specialized support and instruction to students engaged in the mathematics curriculum. Key responsibilities include providing additional instructional support, creating mathematics learning modules, and collaborating with faculty to enhance student learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver supplemental instruction and support in advanced mathematics courses
  • Organize regular coaching sessions for students who may be struggling
  • Create mathematics modules tailored for non-mathematics courses
  • Work alongside faculty to facilitate supplemental instruction
  • Utilize educational software for personalized student assistance
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the institution

Additional Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and prioritize support for at-risk students
  • Establish trusting relationships with a diverse student body
  • Coordinate academic skills workshops and projects
  • Engage with students of varying academic abilities and motivation levels
  • Demonstrate an understanding of diverse student backgrounds
  • Work independently with a flexible schedule
  • Perform related tasks as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee university and/or student staff as assigned
  • Other supervisory duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field
  • Experience in educational support and instruction
  • Familiarity with educational software
  • Ability to manage confidential information
