Job Title: Registered Nurse - Maternity Unit

The Stamford Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Maternity Unit team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, coordinate unit activities, and serve as a resource for ancillary staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Supervise non-RN personnel and act as a resource for ancillary staff
  • Act as preceptor to new staff and/or students as requested
  • Ensure the infant security program is intact per unit protocol
  • Promote an optimal breastfeeding experience for patients
  • Recognize symptoms of maternal hemorrhage and implement interventions to stabilize the patient
  • Demonstrate knowledge of surgical GYN procedures
  • Assess patients with accuracy based on age and physical requirements
  • Maintain competencies to care for patients undergoing mastectomy and other breast procedures
  • Perform newborn assessment, metabolic screening, and hearing screening
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience required
  • Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut
  • BSN strongly preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Maintain minimum of 6 contact hours annually
  • Previous experience in maternal child health highly preferred
  • Obtain NRP and Fetal Monitoring Certification within 12 months, if not currently certified in this area
  • Lactation Certification preferred
  • Attend Annual Maternal Child Health (MCH) Competency Day

Schedule:
Full Time. Night Shift 7PM to 8AM.
