Role Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a crucial role in building and nurturing relationships between the credit union and the communities we serve. Collaborating closely with the Community Impact Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating initiatives that deliver essential financial education and wellness programs. A solid understanding of credit union operations, financial literacy strategies, and social responsibility is vital. This role supports the development and execution of programs that align with our mission to enhance financial wellness for educational institutions, businesses, and community partners, while also bolstering our brand reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Education (65%) – Develops and curates financial education materials tailored for youth, adults, and underserved populations based on community needs. Collaborates with external vendors to maximize outreach and engagement. Facilitates educational content at various events and through marketing channels. Cultivates relationships within the educational sector to promote financial wellness initiatives. Establishes partnerships with businesses and organizations to achieve departmental objectives. Coordinates financial education sessions to highlight the benefits of credit union membership. Ensures the credit union's professional reputation is upheld and enhanced. Aids in integrating financial counseling into the overall member experience. Researches and identifies grant opportunities to support educational initiatives.

Community Relations (20%) – Acts as a representative of the credit union at community events, charitable functions, and business gatherings, aiming to foster partnerships and sponsorships. Coordinates financial education initiatives with volunteer organizations and events. Maintains and develops ongoing relationships with community stakeholders.

Administrative Duties (10%) – Accurately documents financial education activities and maintains records. Develops and manages a calendar of financial education events for both business development and community engagement. Collaborates with the Marketing team on the creation and distribution of promotional materials and educational content.

Additional Duties (5%) – Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred, or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Experience:

A minimum of 1-3 years in finance, community engagement, business development, or educational training within a financial institution is preferred. Proven experience in delivering credible financial wellness education to diverse audiences and in building professional relationships with community and business leaders. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees and members.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and collaborative tools (Teams and Zoom).
• Familiarity with the organization's policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering laws.
