As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery, we are seeking a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist to join our interdisciplinary team. This role involves providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), which encompasses nutrition assessments, tailored nutrition interventions, and education for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

**Work Hours: 8:30 AM - 5 PM, with flexibility required; no night shifts necessary.

Key Responsibilities

A typical day for a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Conducting thorough assessments to evaluate patients' nutritional requirements, employing evidence-based guidelines, including Nutrition Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) when appropriate.
  • Implementing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) to create, execute, and monitor evidence-based nutrition care plans.
  • Documenting comprehensive assessments in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Providing nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families as necessary.
  • Collaborating with other members of the interdisciplinary team to communicate recommendations and adjustments to patient care plans.
  • Delivering community and outpatient nutrition services as assigned.
  • Engaging in performance improvement initiatives and facility-specific projects related to patient care.
  • Completing additional tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Maintaining credentialing from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Staying updated on nutrition trends, research, policies, and standards of practice for professional development.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and Hackensack Meridian Health policies (e.g., HIPAA, quality assurance, safety, operations).
  • Providing high-quality, patient-centered service, adhering to principles of AIDET, PRIDE, and RESPECT to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Complying with organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Performing other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Effective January 1, 2024, Registered Dietitians must possess a Master's degree.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with facility-specific EMR systems.
  • Familiarity with Foodservice System applications.
  • Experience in acute care, clinical, or related settings.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Credentialed as a Professional RD/RDN through CDR within six months of hire.
