The Clinical Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for delivering tailored nutritional services across various patient care settings, ensuring adherence to established standards and compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves leveraging expertise in nutrition to support patients throughout their life stages while managing diet office operations and overseeing nutrition support staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assess and identify the nutritional needs of diverse patient populations, adapting care strategies to meet specific requirements (e.g., age, cultural background, language proficiency).

2. Conduct thorough nutritional assessments in accordance with facility protocols, ensuring patients receive appropriate dietary support.

3. Review patient medical records to gather essential information for comprehensive nutritional evaluations.

4. Engage with patients and their families to collect relevant data for nutrition assessments.

5. Develop, document, implement, and evaluate personalized nutrition care plans based on individual assessments.

6. Provide counseling to patients and families on effective nutrition strategies, food choices, and lifestyle adaptations.

7. Design and implement educational initiatives aimed at enhancing patient and staff understanding of nutritional practices.

8. Interpret and execute dietary orders from physicians, initiating prescribed nutrition plans.

9. Upon obtaining RDN Order Writing Privileges, create specific dietary orders to address patients' nutritional requirements.

10. Maintain annual competency and fulfill quarterly training to uphold order writing privileges.

11. Collaborate with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal nutritional care for patients.

12. Work closely with nutrition assistants to ensure accurate menu modifications for patients.

13. Monitor food distribution processes to ensure compliance with dietary prescriptions and quality standards.

14. Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects.

15. Undertake additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.

16. Adhere to organizational competencies and behavioral standards.

Qualifications

Required Education and Skills:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, fulfilling dietetic didactic requirements.

2. Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

3. Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred Experience:

1. Experience in acute care clinical settings.

2. Familiarity with electronic nutrition management systems.

Licenses and Certifications:

1. National registration and ongoing professional development credits maintained annually.
