Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering patient care by assisting healthcare professionals in a clinical setting. This position involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare examination and treatment areas, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for use.
- Assist patients in getting ready for their appointments and examinations as instructed.
- Measure and document patients' vital signs accurately in their medical records.
- Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment as required.
- Conduct various tests, including EKGs, pulmonary function tests, and other lab assessments, following established protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with billing and collection processes as necessary.
- Utilize electronic health record systems to manage patient information efficiently.
- Uphold confidentiality standards and handle sensitive information with care.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving equipment as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient screenings via phone and in-person.
- Gather and document comprehensive patient histories.
- Assist in minor procedures and treatments under the guidance of healthcare providers.
- Apply pharmacological principles in the preparation and administration of medications (excluding specific types).
- Manage medication reconciliation and follow up on test results.
- Monitor inventory levels of medical supplies and equipment.
- Ensure routine maintenance of clinical and administrative tools.
- Provide health education and preventive care instructions to patients.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage demographic and financial data in electronic systems.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and relay information to patients as directed.
- Organize and maintain medical records systematically.

Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.

Certifications Required:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
One of the following certifications is also required:
- CMA from the National Healthcareer Association
- CMA from the National Center for Competency Testing
- CMA from the American Association of Medical Assistants
- RMA from American Medical Technologists
- RMA from the National Association for Health Professionals
- AMCA certification
- NCMA certification from the National Certification Medical Association
