About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Regional Operations Director to join our team at Watsco, a leading distributor of HVAC/R equipment and supplies. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence across multiple regions, ensuring seamless delivery of products and services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Operational Strategies: Establish and execute long-term operations objectives that align with business goals, partnering with regional leadership teams to develop and execute plans to support regional business objectives.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Implement standardized, documented best practices and processes in alignment with the Business Process/Continuous Improvement team, driving operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage Logistics and Inventory: Plan, organize, direct, and manage the course of operations to maintain profitability by controlling inventory, losses, accidents, and safety, seeking synergies and best practices to develop and implement new methods to improve productivity and customer service.
  • Lead Safety and Quality Initiatives: Drive safety, warehouse, transportation, logistical improvements, and productivity via major KPIs such as inbound/outbound logistics performance, cost, inventory accuracy, annual physical inventory, safety compliance, and on-time delivery.
  • Optimize Operations Structure: Refine and implement an operations structure that is integrated with supply chain and minimizes total system cost while providing superior customer service, coordinating with 3rd party service providers as needed to resolve operational issues.
  • Analyze and Improve Logistics Network: Analyze current logistics network to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, processes, service levels, and optimal fulfillment channels, developing a deep understanding of the customer fulfillment experience to properly assess service level improvements.
  • Develop and Implement Change Management Tools: Developing tools and processes for implementing, driving, and sustaining change, monitoring staff performance and organizational processes, and collaborating with other stakeholders to enhance productivity and staff satisfaction.

Requirements
  • 10+ Years of Progressive Operations and Logistics Leadership Experience: Required in a wholesale, distribution, or fulfillment environment.
  • Demonstrated EH&S Experience: In a distribution environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred: With a preference for Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain degree, Master's degree a plus.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Principles: To lead operational transformation, including footprint optimization, cost-out, on-time delivery, safety, quality, etc.
  • Expert Understanding of Materials Management, Warehousing, and Inventory Control: Policies, processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Experience with Network Optimization: Quantifiable results in identifying supply chain improvements through scenario analysis, logistics spend, and footprint decisions.
  • Strong Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: In support of metrics-, data-, and process-oriented objectives, with the ability to succinctly report on critical operations measures.
  • Excellent Financial, Quantitative, and Analytical Skills: With demonstrated success as a people leader, including the ability to set and gain buy-in for strategic direction and vision, attract, hire, retain, and develop key/critical operations leaders, and establish an engaging culture of accountability, quality, and customer focus.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Including written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to comfortably and credibly interact with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Flexible, Dynamic, Self-Demanding, and Proactive Individual: Able to motivate themselves and others, easily accepting constructive input from others, with a clear 'bias for action' and a sense of urgency to operate within a fast-paced and entrepreneurially minded organization.
  • Willingness to Travel: A significant percentage of the time.
