POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to provide exceptional care to patients in an inpatient setting. This role involves assessing patient needs and implementing tailored treatment plans to enhance or restore physical function. The therapist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver educational programs and support the clinical training of students.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must possess a degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program, at least a Bachelor’s level. A valid Connecticut Physical Therapy license is mandatory.

KEY COMPETENCIES:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Windows-based software, is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is beneficial, though not required. Reliable transportation is necessary for travel between various work locations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Adjust evaluations based on patient symptoms, activity levels, and medical history, establishing individualized and measurable treatment goals.
  • Administer appropriate therapeutic exercises to enhance strength, endurance, coordination, and range of motion.
  • Utilize physical modalities and manual techniques to alleviate pain and achieve treatment objectives.
  • Implement effective strategies to normalize motor function and facilitate learning.
  • Educate patients and their families on home exercise regimens and functional activities to promote independence.
  • Assess patient progress and determine when maximum therapeutic benefit has been achieved, recommending discharge when suitable.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with insurance regulations and departmental policies.
  • Foster effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and referring physicians regarding patient care.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of billing information.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the APTA and the facility.
  • Practice safe body mechanics to prevent injury.
  • Supervise at least one student intern annually.
  • Engage in continuing education to enhance treatment methodologies.
  • Participate in departmental and community educational initiatives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is located within the Eastern Connecticut Health Network, focusing on inpatient rehabilitation services. The role requires a full-time commitment during daytime hours.
